Back in the Swing

Ok, so I had a GREAT christmas/new years! I love my job and all, but it was soooo nice to have a nice long break! But now, back to work! I'm trying to get back into everything I was doing so nicely before the Christmas break. AKA losing weight, running, eating healthy.
For those that don't know I lost 10lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas and am happy to report I didn't gain any of it back! However I can tell I'm not in as good of shape as I was....after jogging daily for over a month and then not for 6 days....lets just say it was hurting me last night!!
I decided I needed some more help in my running...it's been getting harder and harder to push myself...I think...oh...that's long enough, and then I'm done. So last night I downloaded a podcast for the program couch to 5k in 9 weeks. Thankfully I didn't have to start at the beginning. I started at the 4th week and that felt pretty good. I warmed up 5 min, ran 3, walked 1 1/2 min, ran 5, walked 2 1/2, and reapeated starting with the 3 min run again. I actually felt better at the last 5 minute run than the first 3....I guess because I was mentally out of the running habbit and all. ANYWAY, so...I plan to do that every night instead of 3 times a week because I need the exercise daily, plus maybe I'll move up to 3 miles faster! How exciting (and weird) would it be to say I can run three miles?!?!
Well I guess that's it for now....oh, ps...melissa I'm trying to remember to do that exercise you do for my shin splints...hope it helps, they feel ok now, we'll see tonight when I run. Cross your fingers for me 'cause those things don't feel good at all!! :(
